The Sahasrara Chakra

Sahasrara Chakra is located at the top of the head. The Sahasrara chakra relates to consciousness as pure awareness. Sahasrara literally means “one thousand” and is the highest chakra. The function of sahasrara chakra is enlightenment, understanding. It is also called crown Chakra. This corresponds to Satya Loka. This Chakra often represented as a thousand petal lotus flower located at the crown of the head. One thousand Yoga Nadis emanate from this centre and the vibrations that are made by the Yoga Nadis are represented by all the 50 letters of the Sanskrit alphabets repeated here again and again on all Yoga Nadis. All of the lower chakras must be balanced in order to reach Sahasrara Chakra. It is our connection to the greater world beyond, to a timeless, spaceless, place of all-knowing.This chakra brings us knowledge, wisdom, love, understanding, spiritual connection, and bliss. One who attains this chakra reaches samadhi or superconsciousness and attains the highest knowledge, wisdom. All the other Chakras have their intimate connection with this centre. The corresponding centre in the physical body is the brain. It relates to Enlightenment, Transcendence, peace, Spiritual Understanding. The Colour is white/violet. Its planet is uranus. The stone is Amethyst. Sahasrara is the culmination of the progressive ascension through the different chakras. It is the crown of expanded awareness. The power of the chakras does not reside in the chakras themselves, but in sahasrara. All the potential lies in the sahasrara. Sahasrara is both formless and with form, yet it is also beyond, and therefore untouched by form. It is shoonya, or in actual fact, the void of totality. It is everything and nothing. Sahasrara acts through nothing and yet again, it acts through everything. It is the culmination of consciousness and prana. Sahasrara is the culmination of yoga, the perfect merging.
